Wills, Trusts & Probate Administration of Estates

Administration of Estates

We can provide you with legal advice on whether or not you will need to apply for a grant of probate and can assist you with this process.

If you are faced with the task of dealing with someone’s estate after they have died, it can often be very daunting and you may have no idea where to start.

We can provide you with legal advice on whether or not you will need to apply for a grant of probate and can assist you with this process. For estates with no inheritance tax to pay which do not require an IHT400 to be completed we can offer a fixed fee service of £750 plus VAT to obtain the grant of probate. You will also have to pay the probate registry fee of £273 plus £1.50 for each additional copy of the grant required.

You may decide that you don’t want the hassle of dealing with the estate administration at all and would prefer us to do all of the necessary work for you. This would include determining the assets in the estate and obtaining date of death values, preparing the relevant IHT form and probate application, arranging payment of any inheritance tax due and submitting the probate application to the Probate Registry to obtain the grant, close all accounts, selling/transferring shares, dealing with any other property and distributing the estate in accordance with the Will. Details of our fees for dealing with the administration of an estate can be found under the ‘Fees and Funding’ section.
